Questions to be answered.......
Have you ever wondered....if all electrical items have a "die on this date" switch built into them somwhere?
Well thats the question we have been asking ourselves repeatedly over the past few weeks as, not so slowely, we have lost several of our "white" goods, including our washing machine, fridge-freezer & tumble dryer....all within a matter of days! It seems like a conspiracy, but then I could be biased! :)
Anyway, having struggled for a few months without the washing machine (which was the first to go, actually before Christmas) hand washing everything in the bath & then tumble drying it all, we had been just about managing, although running up HUGE electricity costs!!!! And losing the fridge-freezer wasn't TOO much of a problem at first, as it was sooo cold here that we could actually put our items in a chiller box outside our back door & they stayed lovely and chilled...silly eh? However, the loss of the tumble dryer was a different animal altogether! It effectively ended our ability to wash clothes at home at all, meaning rather than just the odd visit to the lauderette with very bulky items or when the washing got out of hand, we are now having to go at least twice a week, and more if Lizzie's & AJ's Cadet Kits need cleaning when they have been doing PT on the Kings field.... If it wasn't for the fact that our launderette is actually quite a nice place to be, this would be a real pain. The only bonus to have come out of this situation is that our electiricty consumption has dropped dramatically..
We have at least now been able to replace the fridge-freezer, thanks to the eagle-eyes of our friends and one of the most useful websites around, www.freecycle.org , so we can now do more than one day's shopping at a time, which is nice....
You can still see our snowy pictures on our page link above although there are a few on the slideshow below also...
