Lizzie Turton's Chester 09 Reveiw.................

On Saturday 8th August 2009, my Mum and I went in a weekend trip to Chester Cathedral with our church choir, which started out having to turn backwards to get our lunch bag (thank you Alan - our very kind driver for the weekend)! The journey up was good (you mean besides scalding myself! - Ed.) but 4 hours in a small car is dangerous (small car she says......it was a huge BMW 5 series! Ed.)

The cathedral was beautiful. It had huge stained glass windows and some of the tombs were brilliantly sculpted.

On the Saturday we sung Choral Evensong and then went to the hotel, which wasn't great, to get ready for dinner at Zizi's............Dinner WAS great, but the walk back to the hotel was brilliant too (funny) because of all the drunk people out. I shared a room with my mum, and two others, which was OK, apart from my mum waking up early in the morning coughing!

Sunday was horrible (not really!) because we had to do the Eucharist service in the morning then almost straight away do Choral Mattins, with only about 15 minutes break between, and then after a short rest for Sunday Lunch (best roast dinner i'd had in a long time!) at a local inn called the Pied Bull http://www.chestertourist.com/pubs_pied.htm  we then had to go back and sing our final service, Choral Evensong, again.  We were then free to leave. The journey back was better, but I was zonked when we got home.....
